Bitigo recommends that you provide as much information about your courses as possible. This will avoid misunderstandings on behalf of the course participants and will help you save time answering questions. You must complete at least the mandatory fields (marked with an asterisk (*)).
You can recognize the visibility of certain information through the symbols If you place your mouse over the symbol and wait a few moments, an explanation of the symbol will appear You can make your courses visible or invisible to the public by publishing or unpublishing them in your "My Courses"
You must fill in the information for your first course completely as well as your profile, your locations (and your teachers - if you are a school director).
Once a first course has been created, you can copy this course and modify the information to create further courses, provided it is the same course type. The location (and teacher) profiles that you have previously created can then be selected from a drop down list when creating a course. Bitigo keeps each course online until the registration deadline chosen by the teacher/director After this date the courses become "archived" The course remains on the "My Courses" list of the teacher/director and can be updated from here
4. Questions concerning the different course status
An unpublished course is not available in the Bitigo course database, and cannot be found through the search engine A course can be unpublished because the course provider chose to withdraw the course, or because certain obligatory course details are not filled in during the course creation The following fields are obligatory: In the "Course definition" the Course title, Course date, Time, Lesson duration, Location and Price; in "Course description" the category and sub-category; in course management the Max number of participants; and in "Student profile" the level If certain information is missing a notice will be posted on top of the course creation page to inform the course creator
Verify in the course information that all the obligatory fields (with an asterisk *) are filled in accurately The following fields are obligatory: In the "Course definition" the Course title, Course date, Time, Lesson duration, Location and Price; in "Course description" the category and sub-category; in course management the Max number of participants; and in "Student profile" the level Once all the obligatory information is filled in, a button will appear on the top right hand corner of the page "Publish this course" If the course provider is certain that all information entered is correct, he/she may publish the course by pressing this button
An archived course is not in the database and cannot be found through the search engine However, the course is still in "My Courses" of the course creator A course becomes archived when the course dates or the registration deadline have passed The registration deadline is set by the creator of the course when it is created This field is optional, however if it is selected the registration deadline will take into account the first course date Courses may also appear archived if passed dates have been selected Ex First course date is January 3rd, 2008 If the registration deadline is set to two days before, then the course will be archived and no longer appear when searched for on the 1st of January
If a course is archived because wrong dates were selected and the course was never published, the course dates or registration deadline can simply be changed in the "Course definition" or "Course management" respectively However, if the course was published it is no longer possible to make modifications and to re-publish the course In this case it is best to copy the course with the symbol on your course list in "My courses" All information can be modified in the new copied course before it is published All archived courses are kept in the course list for the course creators records, however can be deleted by the course creator at any time
A published course is a course that the course provider created and by clicking the button "Publish this course" put online in the Bitigo database The course is then visible to all Bitigo users and can be found through the search engine
Once a course is published certain basic information cannot be modified, more specifically this includes the information in the "Course definition" If there is a mistake and this specific information must be changed, the course creator must click the button "Modify / Cancel" on the top right hand corner of the course creation sheet in "My Courses" Modifications can then be made however, the course must be re-published once the changes have been made by clicking on "Publish this course" If no students are registered to the course yet, the unpublishing of the course can happen without a problem However, if students are already registered via Bitigo, unpublishing a course will notify the students that the course has been canceled To avoid this, please ensure that the course information is correct before publishing the course the first time
If a course needs to be canceled or removed from the system, the specific course must be found in the course list of "My Courses" On the top right corner of the page, the button "Modify / Cancel" must be clicked to cancel or delete the course from the system Please note that if no students are registered to the course yet, the canceling or deleting of the course can happen without a problem However, if students are already registered via Bitigo, this action will notify the students that the course has been canceled To avoid this, please be sure that the course will remain canceled and unavailable to those students who have registered
